Zhao Cong - Sound Of China - Ultimate High Quality Vinyl - Half Speed Mastering 1 Step 45 RPM

The pipa is one of the oldest Chinese instruments. The name "Pipa" originally refers to two grip techniques. The two Chinese characters "pi" and "pa" stand for plucking the strings forwards and backwards respectively. Due to its perfect temperament, its wide dynamic range, its bright timbre and its rich expressiveness, the pipa is considered the most beautiful and expressive of all Chinese folk musical instruments.

ACT Record Label

Thirty years ago, music producer/publisher Siggi Loch moved on from his highly successful role as the European head of WEA (now Warner Music Europe) in order to fulfil a dream he had harboured since his youth, and set up his own independent jazz label, ACT. There have been more than 600 releases on the label since then; they stand as a testament not only to the power of his vision, but also as evidence of his inexhaustible drive and energy which has turned that dream into a reality.

ACT is considered today "one of the most important jazz labels in Europe"

John Coltrane: Crescent (Acoustic Sounds) (180g)

In 1964, John Coltrane spent the least amount of time of his entire solo career in the recording studio. It wasn't until April 27th that 'Trane, along with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones, entered the familiar surroundings of Rudy Van Gelder's Englewood Cliffs studio to begin work on the album that would be dubbed Crescent. They recorded all tracks appearing on Crescent, along with "Songs Of Praise", but not the final versions of the album's five tracks. From that first day of recording, 'Lonnie's Lament', 'The Drum Thing' and 'Wise One' were included in the final version. The first two of those three tracks make up the entire second side of the album and on "Lonnie's Lament" Coltrane doesn't solo at all, instead there is a long bass solo from Garrison.

Lady Blackbird – Black Acid Soul

With a voice that has captivated critics, Lady Blackbird is a new talent whose music transcends the jazz scene in which the LA-based artist is rooted.

Lady Blackbird recorded her highly anticipated debut album, Black Acid Soul, at the legendary Studio B (Prince's Room) in Sunset Sound, produced by Grammy-nominated Chris Seefried.

Michael Wollny - Nachtfahrten

Michael Wollny winner of numerous prizes, including eight Echo Jazz awards, he has also made a name for himself outside the scene as a soloist or as a trio player. At just forty, he is already considered the most important German jazz musician and is mentioned in the same breath as legends such as Herbie Hancock and Keith Jarrett. But Wollny is not only a gifted pianist. His work is based on his own compositions, for which he draws inspiration from classical and pop music, film and art.

Bill Evans Trio ‎Waltz For Debby

Waltz for Debby is a live album by jazz pianist and composer Bill Evans and his trio consisting of Evans, bassist Scott LaFaro, and drummer Paul Motian. It was released in 1962.

The album was the fourth and final effort from the unit—LaFaro died in a car accident just ten days after the live date at the Village Vanguard from which Waltz for Debby and its predecessor, Sunday at the Village Vanguard, were taken. The loss of LaFaro hit Evans hard, and he went into a brief seclusion. When Evans returned to the trio format later in 1962, it was with Motian and bassist Chuck Israels.

Benny Andersson Piano

Benny Andersson records his personal selection of ABBA hits on the piano for the first time. On his album, Benny Andersson has recomposed and recorded his personal selection of Abba hits and other works, such as the famous musical Chess, for the piano for the first time. The result is small, elegant piano ballads somewhere between piano bar and neoclassic music, which make the hearts of both die-hard piano lovers and passionate pop fans beat faster!

Donald Byrd: Places And Spaces (Reissue) (180g)

Donald Byrd's 1975 album Places And Spaces, featuring the hits Wind Parade and Dominoes, was the pinnacle of the great trumpeter's Fusion period. It was the fifth consecutive Byrd album produced by visionary producer Larry Mizell, and the penultimate session Byrd recorded for Blue Note, the label he had recorded for since 1958 and marked his remarkable journey from first-rate hard-bop trumpeter to pioneer R&B/funk fusion. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition was mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

China Moses Nightintales (180g)

In eleven expressive songs, the jazz and soul singer takes us through the night, with all its secrets and magical moments. For the first time in her now more than 20-year career, Moses only recorded her own compositions. She was supported by Luke Smith (piano, organ), Neville Malcolm (bass), Jerome Brown (drums) and British producer Anthony Marshall (including Nelly Furtado and Craig David). China Moses once again shows what a versatile artist she is. The singer's unmistakable warm contralto voice dominates the whole scene.
